Dog grooming warwick gates

Health

Please ensure your dog is fit and healthy, grooming of sick and elderly dog is entirely at the owners risk. If anything changes between appointments please inform the groomer so we can decide if its safe to groom.

Fleas/parasites

If your dog has fleas/ticks I need to know prior to the appointment. This is to prevent cross contamination with other dogs. I reserve the right to refuse to groom a dog with fleas until they have been successfully treated. If fleas are discovered during a groom extra charges will be applied. These charges will be charges to cover the costs of treating the grooming area.

Payment

Payment will be made on collection of your dog. Estimates will be given based upon on a average size and breed of the dog, behaviour and the condition of the coat as all these elements will affect how long the grooming process will take. The final price will be given once the groom is complete and the payment must be made.

Late Fees / Missed Appointments / Cancellations

If you do not collect your dog at the agreed time a late fee may apply. I offer a one to one service and therefore do not want dogs from different homes present at any one time. This approach prevents any undue stress to dogs visiting.

Our policy is that clients who do not show up or cancel with less than a 24 hour notice can't make another appointment until they have paid the 50% charge for their missed appointment.  If you know you are going to be late for your appointment please contact us ASAP so that we know. Turning up late means you run the risk of us cancelling your appointment and incurring a 50% fee, which will need to be paid in full before another appointment can be booked. We understand that from time to time, for various reasons beyond your control, you may be a few minutes late for pick up. If you know you are going to be late for collection please phone us so that we can adjust our schedule accordingly. For every 30mins you are late we will add £5 onto your bill. â€‹Dogs that are not collected will be charges a pet sitting fee of £30 per day.

Matting and Shaving Agreement Information

Please note that under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, if we cannot brush out the animals coat without causing them pain or suffering we will have to suggest shaving off the coat.

Matted coats can cause a variety of skin and health problems which untreated will require a visit to the vets. Matted fur does not allow for the air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, maggots and other parasites may also be living underneath the matted coat. Matted fur begins to pull on the skin causing pain to your pet every time they move and this causes the skin underneath the fur to become raw and inflamed. If we do discover pre existing skin conditions that may have been hidden under the matts, we will inform you so you can then take appropriate actions if necessary.

Due to matting, your dogs hair may have to be shaved and clipped very short, usually as short as we can get the clipper behind the hair and can change the look of your dog. Because the blade has to be so short to get in between the skin and the matting to remove it, it can cause irritation to the skin called clipper rash. This sort of grooming session can be stressful for your pet but its a necessary session order to make your pet comfortable again. I do endeavour to make your pets grooming session as comfortable as possible and always take the upmost care. If I do not feel I can safely remove the matting I will advise you to take the dog to the vets for further treatment.

We will use natural sensitive shampoo in order to not further irritate the skin and soothe the areas. Whilst I will always take my time to care for the dog but from time to time there is a possibility of injury especially in cases like this. If a dog starts to head shake once matts are removed from the ears, in this case you will need to seek veterinary advise.

Thank you for understanding that we put your dogs welfare first and want his/her grooming experience to be positive and non stressful. We cannot justify hours of de matting torture for the sake of good lucks.

You dog may exhibit unusual behaviour for a few days; for example, they may seem unsettled or happier and try to run themselves along surfaces. Booking regular grooming appointments prevents your dogs coat getting getting knots and matted therefore not needing to be shaved shorter than normal.

If you need advice on specific dog breed grooming intervals, please ask.

Dogs can be unpredictable and often can make sudden movements and I cannot be held responsible should this happen. If your dog becomes aggressive I may have to use a muzzle for my own safety. If a dog becomes too stressed with being groomed we may have to rearrange for the groom to be finished another day or completely abandoned.

The groomer has the right to refuse to groom or end the groom at any point if you feel the dogs behaviour is a risk to the groomer or the dog itself. If the groomer feels fit to carry on the groom they may ask the owner to stay or ask for the dog to wear a muzzle.
